Weekend Trip to Ikea: Heaven or Hell?

Honestly, it was both rolled up into one cinnamon bun smelling bundle of fun. BTW- I'm pretty sure they pump that sweet smell throughout the enter place in an effort to keep shoppers emotionally numb.

As I mentioned last Wednesday I had a trip planned to go to Ikea while Joey was out of town. I needed a few things (mostly storage and other random goodies) and I did my very best to not go overboard. But sadly, this is what happened...

I did not even make it beyond the first floor because my cart got so heavy I couldn't weave my way through the aisles without breaking a sweat and wiping out small toddlers.

I don't know what it is about this store- I am typically VERY frugal...like "I only buy things when they are on CLEARANCE at TJMaxx" kind of frugal. I like to call myself a "financial hoarder"- at least then when someone calls me cheap I can claim its a disease, not a lifestyle choice.

But there is something about Ikea that gets my blood flowing - I mean, look at all those storage boxes!
So may colors so little time...

Then just when you think you have reached decor utopia- you get a smack in the face- The belly of the beast and my personal h-e-double-hockey sticks.

I managed to make it out of the store with my life, but I was stung with this whopper at checkout.

Fun fun....
At least I got some cute things, and a few are more DIYs coming up-so get excited!

If your Monday is dragging you should check out the website Ikeahackers.net- some of the projects on there will amaze you and make you realize that possibilities are endless with some of this stuff. Here are a few of my faves:

  2. Aww man! You def need a helper on that trip! I've only been to IKEA 2 times, but it's a little too contemporary for me. However, I may be slightly tainted by Pottery Barn! LOL! xxoo A-
